Ringpowerind: For All Taekwondo Belt Levels
Although the taekwondo belt order is not standardised and varies across styles, here is a list of common colours and the taekwondo belt levels they usually correspond to.

White – White signifies the beginner’s level. In order to move on to higher ranks, practitioners need to first earn the white belt with yellow stripes. This is done by learning a beginner’s Poomsae (a defined pattern of defence-and-attack motions) and being able to engage in a sparring process, defend oneself against holds and break free from them.

Yellow – On top of the usual tests, yellow-belt taekwondo also requires practitioners to break a board with both hands and feet.

Green – The green-belt practitioner can follow the green-belt Poomsae and is able to engage in a one-step and freestyle spar. In addition, they are able to break through two-inch boards with both hands and feet.

Blue – Practitioners who have earned the blue belt have done so by performing a blue-belt Poomsae, having engaged in a two-step spar and having broken a two-inch board with a punch and a one-inch board with a turning kick.

Red – The red-belt practitioner is somebody to be reckoned with. They can break a three-inch board with any kick of choice and master the art of free sparring.

Black – In many martial arts including taekwondo, black-belt practitioners have reached the highest levels. They have mastered all the Poomsae, sparring styles and defences and can break two three-inch boards with any kick or blow.
